Maker & studio

Cédric Ceulemans is a Belgian sculptor based in the Netherlands, creating luminous works that emerge from a deep connection to nature. Working primarily with locally sourced wood, recycled paper, and natural materials, his practice begins in the forests surrounding his studio at NEST, an artist community on the outskirts of Hilversum.

Each piece originates from found wood, often shaped by time and decay. Guided by the forms, textures, and the quiet energy these materials carry, he builds his sculptures using rattan and layered paper, allowing light and shadow to reveal new dimensions.

Since 2019, his work has explored how light can transform matter. Through a process of attention and care, he seeks to restore balance and presence, gently elevating what is worn or forgotten. Each sculpture becomes an act of transformation, a way of healing material with beauty.
